I noticed that it's so true when Pastor Daniel mentioned that the more I have the more expensive things I want. When we covet, we won't be contented. I will learn to desire the right things – that is equivalent to heavenly treasures. I'm doing techniques of advertising this semester and I'm supposed to do an ad to promote for state of NY tourism board…Ah! I'm encouraging people to covet.

Yes we need contentment. All you need is contentment. It will bring you joy, love peace, and all the fruits of the Spirit. Contentment is free of charge. You can purchase it at the prayer counter, when you buy the precious item. Place contentment at your heart, then mind. Nest use your will to activate it. When it is activated, you'll feel spiritually wealthy. When so, you send blessing and obey the principle, "freely receive and freely give". When that takes place, you bless others. God is pleased and gives you more contentment. Here we see a perfect contentment. Here we see a perfect contentment economy model.

Coveting is so serious. God doesn't allow it because He knows that it will destroy. This kind of desire is destructive! Contentment can only be filled by God and no one else. No Arabic uncle can help. Only God and Him alone.Q

Hui Wen

Today's sermon is very chim. I don't really understand the sermon, but I find it very true about something that Pastor said. That when we covet, we are never satisfied with what we have. We would want more and more and at the end, we find that what we have owned is meaningless. Ecclesiastes 1-3 really taught me alt that contentment is found in God, chasing after things that do not last for eternal is really just chasing after the wind.

Anyu

Hmm, seems a little similar to 40 days of purpose. If we don't live according to what God created us for, we are really wasting our time. I liked the 'analogy' on the rich businessman and the poor fisherman. We can enjoy life or live a purposeful and contented life with or without materials/possessions. Today, I really questioned myself: "Am I a millionaire/billionaire in heaven?" I seriously hope so that I am. So today's sermon really pushed and encouraged me to start working on my relationship with God, because that's worthy! That's what I should "covet"!

Muxin

Coveting, this sermon is really impactful. Converting is really dangerous; I didn't know it can lead to o many sins. I am determined to place God first, and then everything will fall in place.

Ha, seriously I was coveting during sermon, concluding the "ten tablet truths" makes me really glad that God had even given us such joy rewarding laws. Jesus even come and 2nd it to boost its importance. I will be contented with a bugatti, no need Lamborghini

Xingyu

Today's sermon was very packed with anecdotes and explanations. Just makes me wonder, how would we know for sure what we do is it coveting or not. It is very not sticky issues when it comes to coveting, for example is it coveting if you go against the grain of the world which is to covet for a laugh. But in particular, I like the ST Augustine quote. It's cool

Shi Ping

Today pastor preached on the 10th commandment, which is do not covet. The sermon was a but deep. Some parts I think we will need more time to digest. To conclude the whole sermon, one very important thing I have learnt is to make my life count for God. With so many stories shared by pastor, the one that I found most impacting was the one that they ask a bunch of 90-years old a question (what would you do if you live your life again?) it really opens up and awaken me. To hear such things from people that had already been through so much.

Today service was awesome; God came down in a different aspect than what I expect. God touched me and I felt it very strongly. God spoke to me that, I need to push on and nothing is greater than Him! So live for God and glorifying Him!

XiaoYe

Covetness will take God's place in my life. I'm allowing covetousness to reign over me unknowingly when I long to get something so bad that my focus is shifting away from God. But I never get meaning if I keep on coveting, I'll end up like Solomon, acquiring everything on earth but save nothing in heaven. Studying is also a form of coveting and that is something I didn't know in the past. I can be greedy in my studies sometimes and I got the whole rationale wrong. Looking back, the satisfaction I get didn't last long each time so I'm always craving for more. And I'm falling into satan's trap in the end. I shall stop coveting and let God control my desires.

Zhonghua

I realized through what God spoke thru Pastor is that I am often in want. Coveting of what others have and their abilities at times. I rather be contented with less things rather than discontentment with much things. For Solomon to say that everything is meaningless when he have everything a person wants means having much doesn't leads to contentment. And one of the very thing that is spoken to me is for me to give. =) I am blessed so I can bless others!

Prayer and Fasting Goals

Alright! Fellow Nissi Elvin-s.... This is the prayer and fasting goals we have set with God for this coming week (for the least).

As we pray for our own spiritual breakthroughs, do refer to this list and prayer for one another during our QT and fasting and praying as well... haha yapz... here they are...

Jingwei: N’level, studies. His health too.
Xiaoye: for Xiaohan to be able to come back to church and stay on fire for God
Huiwen: Righteous life. A heart of giving.
Shiping: Family’s salvation
Anyu: For breakthroughs in new areas of her life.
Verlyn: Family’s salvation and for Xiaohan to be able to return to church.
Sangeetha: breakthrough for a heart of forgiveness and free from bitterness.
Xinyu: less tension between school mates esp. project mates. Rid off bad habits of laziness and hunger( esp. during fasting)
Zhonghua: to know Holy Spirit more, to this personal relationship with God even closer.
Joey: Fruitfulness and productivity in his work.
Edwin: to speak in new tongues
Elvin: to know Holy Spirit more and get closer to Him.
Phyliss: Breakthrough in health. The Ability to hear God clearer (lifestyle) to discern better.

Draw near to God... and He will draw near to you. James 4:8

The Lord will perfect that which concerns me. Ps 138:8

Be assured that God will speak to us so clearly and He will reveal so much to us (=, so do pursue Him with the fullest expectations you can possibly have!
You all are highly encouraged to write down what you have experienced with God over the week ( at least) ... there’s no such thing as too many testimonies....! Our God is too generous to limit our breakthroughs as long as we are hungry for His Foot and Handprints all over our lives, as well as the lives of those we love and concern.

Looking forward for awesome testimonies (= let us thank God beforehand!!!!

Prayer Walking for the Weekend

This Sat will be National Day,We will not want to be just praying for our nation, but also for the various schools.. As a Cell Group, we will be prayer walking together at JJC, praying for souls in the school as well as the neighborhood.. Service will be at 3pm, it wil be combine so we will make our way back for service after Prayer Walking... Your Shepherd, me will be fasting on Sat's lunch to pray for the school, u can join in too...

Let's all gather and meet at 1230pm at Bukit Batok Control, BE ON TIME. For pple who lives in Jurong West or near the school, u can make ur wAY dere urself.. but let Zhonghua or Phyliss if you are going by urselves..

Time to start: pending. most prob 10am (To be confirmed again).

Start in church and end with a short service in church.

Attire: Dark colour shirts or wear swimming costume inside - you will definitely get wet. No slippers. Sandals or shoes only. Berms are ok. Please don't wear shorts or jeans!!!

Preferably wear YI tee-shirts. Bring a change of clothes (inside and outside - you know what i mean..), water bottle and money for food along the way.

Bring Ez-link card. Make sure inside got money.

You can bring bus guide or map too! ;)

Do be Inviting Friends, its holidays, surely they can be free.. booked them early, and Most Importantly keep-ing them in prayer till the day comeesss...

Life is full of furnace times.

Image seems to be what everyone is chasing today.
What the world says “To succeed above all else” image-worship

7 things I’m going to face:
1st furnace: Furnace of what will people say
God will prefer us to step out of the boat and sink (like Peter), than us to sit and stay on the boat.

2nd furnace: Financial Pressure
Matthew 6:25-27
Give my way out!
Look for opportunities to be generous.
Looking beyond what I don’t have or the little that I have.

3rd furnace: Personal disappointment

4th furnace: Temptation to sin
Everyone gets tempted.
Temptations will just keep coming.

5th furnace: Insecurity
Everyone goes through insecurity for a period of time.

My looks, sharing my faith, BUT serve God first.

6th furnace: Stretching
NOT bow, break or bend to any image.
It’s impossible to do anything without God.

7th furnace: Success
Jesus chooses to get into the furnace with me, encouraging me and pushes me on.

Something’s gotta change.

3 kinds of people
People who had it, have it or want it

If I want change to happen, let it start in me.
Choice is everything to do with it.
Choice has consequences.

I cannot borrow my leaders’ passion for God.
I have got to get my own.

(when your borrowed axe head is blunt)

We don’t do any cut, but there’s just noise because my axe head was borrowed in the first place.
Not making difference, but just making noise.

A difference: When I swing, it cuts.
There has got to be revolution in my heart.
I have got to use my own.

Everybody gets hurt, but not everybody quits.

Am I just making noise?
I can’t choose how my life began, but I can choose how my life can end.

Luke 22:47

Bringing joy/pain to a place.
What am I going to bring to a place?

Bringing pain not only cause destruction to myself, but to the church.
Love fills the gap, covers a multitude of sins.
Be like Jesus, who says, “NO MORE!”

Some people live better, some bitter: It’s my choice.
Skillful hands are different from the integrity of my heart.

Everyone can learn certain skills and they are no big deal.
However, the integrity of my heart and my character is what that matters and stays to the end.

The frustration, slander, harm, betrayal: NO MORE!
Taking care of your heart: caring for one another.

Mask: Person that I think everyone wants me to be.
à Causes a lot of frustration in relationships.
Jesus wants to put things back where they belong, where He put the servant’s ear back and healed him.
Jesus wants to fix where there is pain and separation.

Taking responsibility for myself.
Jesus is willing to help the situation when everything is falling apart.

We don’t have to do something to be loved.
Foundation of our faith is forgiveness.

3 things to get past to get to Jesus:

1) Condition
Issue that lies within us.
When Jesus is in town, I have hope in my heart.
Conditions usually happen when I’m disappointed or sad.
Being the church, not acting the church.
We are the flavour brought to people.
The wrong people put me in the wrong direction.

2) Crowd
Who I hang out with means who I will be.
I got to have friends that direct me to the right direction.
Christians don’t need to fit in all the time, it’s ok.
Do not let the crowd decide for me.

3) Critics
But Jesus knows our minds.
When God’s power shows up, everybody shuts up.

Today was like the day of revival, the day of awakening,
Almost the day of baptism without water.

Radical conference '08
Its not like i haven't been there before, yet it was something indeed rather new for me
If anything day 1 and day 0 (leaders meeting) has already left an impact of REVOLUTION
in me

Today is Friday, the first day.. I intended to bring a friend. Ok whats new?
Whats new was my decision to wait for him ... and wait ... and wait ... and wait. For 1 hour
Now this is not something i usually do.
Why? because i'm an impatient person

But aside from that i noticed that my lack of concern to the the person always displayed my own self-centeredness.
I realised that i would usually say
"sure sure, call me when u get here, i'll come out and pick u up"
But what if you heard
"sure sure, call me when u get here, i'll be waiting for u and we can walk in together"

Much better no?
[You don't see yourself on fiiiiiiiiiiyyyyeeerrrrr as much as other ppl do.]

Guess what, i missed praise and worship, but i'm very sure that what i learnt in the that time filled up more then what i expected during AND after the sermon.

HIHI...just wanna update a bit..
How is everyone feeling?... :)
sermons have been great, yeah?
but let's just get rid of the inertia of leaving sermons unrevised in our notebooks.
let them get alive in our lives!

yea, so just a request..., since i can't really attend prayer mtgs due to school.

1) pls pray for all the "newcomers"..be it really new..or not-so-new
Melissa is still not very interested and moved to really COME to church.
she got a lot of last-minute stuff.., and lots of school commitment.
so just pray that God can draw her.

2) pls pray for the poly people :)
I believe that school is rather difficult for them, coz Psy seems quite hard, as so i heard from ShiPing.
pray that they will adapt real well, not forgetting to shine the Light in them.
pray that they will really work in partnership with God as well.
pray that they will see and get away from all kinds of distraction in school and focus on the purpose in school.

also, the JC pple need help too :)
a lot of projects going on.

let our lives be prayerful and wonderful..!

just an update.
pls pray for Melissa Teh, the girl that i brought last week.
she can't come today coz of some school event.
she's pretty tied up in school because she opted to be a student leader in jj.
so just pray that she will be convicted by God to come for service n for her heart to be hungry for the truth, not the lies the world provides.
n jj won't continue to have such things on saturdayss.........

ya, n pray for the sick. ( physically sick)

Prayer Request! =)

Nissi Elvin!
Elvin: Pray for his tuition kid, Wilson, that Elvin is able to share to him.
Pray that he will be heal from his sickness as has been sick for 2 days.
Pray that there will be good weather this Friday as we have cell group outing and everyone will come and they will have fun together and more bonding.

Edwin: Pray for shino that he will regain his memory and that he can get to know God more.
Pray that he can get his laptop soon.

Verlyn: Pray that the Saturday that she has Girl Guide She still can come church.
Pray that when she share to Renee will come to church.

Phyliss: Pray that she can enough sleep.
Pray for Alex that God will speak to him( Phyliss friend), he will stop all his bad habits.
Pray that God will continue to do wonders in her campus.
Pray that she will be able to do well in her maths exams.

Zhong hua: Pray for his tuition kid, that he will have more wisdom in studying.

Shi ping: Pray that she will have enough money to go for mission trip. Pray against lethargy. Pray for Wai hung to come back to church.( Send encouragement to him also)

Xiao han: Pray for Angela and Hazel( xiao han friends), pray that they can come to church. Their parents would not stop them from coming.

Mu Xin: Pray that for academic to improve. Pray that he can have time management.

Jing wei: Pray that my mum will go for the mother day dinner at church. Pray that I can experience God more in my quiet time. Pray that my grand father will be healed compeletely by God and he will received Christ. Pray that I will be able to Study Smart and hard for my exams.

Hui wen: Pray that she will stand firm in God, even in her workplace.
Pray for Nadia, that she will come to church and she will open up her heart to share to Hui Wen.( Hui wen`s friend)
Pray that Gabriel`s emptiness in his heart will be filled by God.( Hui Wen`s boss)
Pray that Anis will get to know God and she will not put her boyfriend at the throne of her life.( Hui wen`s friend)

Joey: Pray that he will bless all those people around him.
Pray that he can have sufficient sleep.
Pray that he can finish up his work and do well for her test.
Pray that he will be able to cope with his work for the following weeks.

Cell Group Outing on Fri @ 21 March 08

Dear all,

haa.i am the first entry.. wat an honour.. As the tittle state, Cell Group Outing...This Friday cell group outing, as we said it on sat.. haa. its a holiday.. do take time off if you are still happen to be working. its a good time for us to get to know one another better, build bonds within us.. Oh yah. btw.. u guys can invite friends to this session as well.. Just a couple of admin things, Joey, We need a favour from you to help us booked the place..Zhonghua wil call u regarding the booking.. Pls have water with you on that day, you guys can all remind Xiaohan to bringher inhaler as well.. We wil have games, den followed by dinner, for those younger than me(below 16 yrs old) if u cant stay for dinner, its fine.. u can go home for dinner... FUn activites awaited!!

Attire: Sports attire with shoes
